Dead keys don't work

I use deadkeys really often on my azerty keyboard but it seems to not be working on FoldingText…

For instance, if I use “+e” I get a simple “e”, but if I use the azerty's “alt+e” combination, I get my “ê” letter. Some of these letters can be obtained using this kind of combination, but some others (like “É”) need deadkeys.

I’m sorry, I don’t know exactly what deadkey is. Can you tell me exactly how to reproduce the problem. I expect the first step is to change my input manger to something non U.S. and then please tell me the exact key sequence that I need to type. Thanks!

Thank you for this response !

I was tricked by the formatter : my example with the ê letter was ^+e.

For the dead letters, try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout#US-International
I'm sure these explanation are better than what I could try to write :-)

With a French-azerty layout, one sequence I often use is alt+shift+& shift+e (infos: the & key is the same as 1, but in azerty we need to press shift in order to have digits… it breaks many shortcuts). This sequence provides the É letter. This is a bit barbarian, but many French people don't write accents with upcase letters (which is a mistake), so it is sort of low priority… Anyway, I suppose a such complex example could be a good test case for you :-)

    Thank you

    Hi dohzya,

Thanks for helping us improve FoldingText!

Ok. So I found on my qwerty keyboard Alt-e and Alt-i which make é and î possible, among other characters i'm sure.

There was a problem with the editing code we put in 0.9.2, but in 0.9.3 expect this to be solved. Well, at least the above few characters that i've been able to test seem to work, so i'm guessing the rest will too. :)

    Oh, it's perfect!

Do you want I close this issue now or do you prefer I check first, to be 100% sure the problem is actually solved? If the first solution is fine, please feel free to close yourself (if possible) the issue, to be quicker.

I can't wait to test this new version :-)

This should be fixed in FoldingText 0.9.3.
